OBJECTIVE

The Association will be a corporate, economic, social, cultural, educational, political and charitable organization established to safeguard the interests of rural villagers throughout West Papua “Tanah Papua”.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSOCIATION

To protect and advance the social, cultural, political, economic and peaceful co-existence of rural people based on common cultural heritage and value that have been acquired individually and collectively as oneself to their contact with the world at large. In particular the Association shall be a vehicle by which rural villages acting through their nominated representatives and on an individual basis can stimulate ideas and instigate actions that can ensure the survival of their cultural values and guarantee a peaceful environment and socially prosperous future for their children and future generations.

This will be achieved through:

  • Encouraging co-operation and understanding between the people on an individual, clan and community basis.
  • Assisting the people to acquire resources and skills that could be used to advance their individual and collective interests.
  • Providing a medium through which people can resolve issues of concern amongst themselves and as it concerns other ethnic groups and peoples.
  • Assisting and encouraging people to acquire technical and specialized training that can be of assistance to the welfare of themselves.
  • Regulate and monitor the utilization of our resources on both land and in the rivers so as to ensure that concerns about conservation are observed at all times.
  • Educate the people on the need to conserve and protect our natural environment and the ecosystem so that they are not endangered and to ensure that they are preserved for our future generations.

To help rural communities in the implementation of the National, Provincial and Local-Level Government and District policies and to formulate efficient development programs.

To lease with other registered groups, Associations, landowners, clans, provincial and local-level government, and national government authorities, agencies and other interested organizations and companies.

To promote efficient management of the land belonging to rural communities in accordance with custom and sound economic and environmental principles.

To provide assistance and to protect and promote economic, social and educational interests of rural communities throughout West Papua “Tanah Papua) and Melanesia.

To create, organize and administer such other service activities and undertakings for the benefit of the communities and members living in rural communities.

To create job opportunities for rural communities throughout West Papua “Tanah Papua) and Melanesia.

To hear grievances of rural communities and make representation to appropriate authorities.

To do all other things conducive to the attainment of the objects specified above herein.

To assist in establishing revenue generating projects for the benefit of the rural communities throughout West Papua “Tanah Papua).

To facilitate and safeguard the business interests and opportunities for the rural communities throughout West Papua “Tanah Papua) and Melanesia.

To appoint, employ, remove, suspend any member, servant or any other person as may be necessary or convenient for the purposes of the Association.

To carry out, all or any or such work in conjunction with other groups and associations within the country or abroad whose objects and purpose are similar to those of the Association and/or to lend assistance to other such areas, groups and associations.

In furtherance of the objectives of the Association, to sell, improve, manage, develop, exchange, lease, dispose of, turn to account or otherwise deal with all or part of the property and rights of the Association;

To apply its profits (if any) or other income of the Association in promoting its objectives;

Membership

Partners with Melanesians Inc West Papua foster community ecotourism, wildlife protection & conservation trough the education, research & Training, support locals’ community livelihood in lowland & highland of western New Guinea (Tanah Papua) as whole trough locals & global partnership.

 

AIM

  1. Primary to protect the forest with its diverse flora & fauna.
  2. Maintain the scenic & recreational values of its natural heritage, culture & environment of the Korowai, Yali, Mamberamo, Dani, and Moni people,
  3. Promote culture & nature based education, research & training in collaboration trough partnership with organization & institution in the province, Papua & abroad,
  4. Create sustainable Livelihood for the local people through its ecotourism potential & conservation management assistance & the other community development programs and activities.
